the temperaments. Inactivity is stressful
along with lack of social contact.
This child talks a lot, takes on too much
and can be prone to temper tantrums.
They can be unpredictable. The Sanguine
must have plans to look forward to.
They love loud parks, amusement rides,
concerts, petting zoos, horseback riding,
swimming and the beach.
The Sanguine loves to travel and visit
places in Florida like The Oldest School
House and museums in St Augustine.
Snorkeling in Key Biscayne Park is fun
for this personality. Visit the manatees
at Crystal River, or rent a boat for a day.
They will sulk if they are home too much,
so having something on the schedule
gives them the opportunity to look forward
to something. Invite their friends over often
so they can do something and entertain
themselves.
The Choleric child is an extrovert but
very picky about who they approach
for socialization. They may have lots of
associations but only want to be with a
select few. They will screen the people
they want to hang out with and those
people usually fulll a purpose for them.
They can have a temper and be mean.
The things you do this summer must meet
their need and desire and meet the criteria
they have in their mind. Even though
they are extroverted, they prefer tasks to
people and need recognition when they
achieve a goal.
They are bright, friendly and nish what
they start. Let the child choose what they
want to accomplish this summer and have
them set goals. They may want to nish
a project or craft, nish a series of books
or visit three ball elds or state capitals.
If they feel you have their interests in mind,
things will go smoother. This child may
want to learn a new instrument this summer
or tackle a new sport like tennis or golf.
The Supine temperament is unusual.
This child wants attention but will not ask
for it. This child expects you to read their
mind. The emotional trait of the Supine is a
shy, conservative, person who really likes
people but gives the false impression that
they are introverted.
They are servants and have a gentle spirit.
This child fears rejection and will be very
loyal. The supine child wants lots of friends
but will act like an introvert. They need the
other person to initiate. Help nd kids in
the neighborhood or in their class to come
over and invite them for your child.
They usually do not ask people over but
want other kids to be around. They work at
a slow steady pace but need a change of
environment to recharge. If they are doing
chores for you, switch the chores outside.
If you are on a trip, be sure you take the
interests of the Supine child in mind, as
they will not express their desires.
They are thinkers and need constant
afrmation. They can also plan meals
and bake, but give many compliments
when they are done. They do not care
and will do whatever you do this summer
but they like to be included in the decision
making. This child does not like to act
independently very often and needs
guidance and support.
The last temperament type is the
Phlegmatic. They can do the tedious
chores, are usually laid back and calm,
easy going and can be a perfectionistic.
They can be observers and not really
want to do much. They can be stubborn,
so it is important they be included in
the summer planning of vacations and
outings. This child tires easily. Letting
them decompress after a long day or a
trip is important.
They do not express too many feelings,
so it is important to do things they like to
do. The Phlegmatic will need quiet time to
unwind. Play some card games or teach
them solitaire. They can play games on
the computer to unwind, and often would
rather watch a program or movies. This
child can be sarcastic or have a dry sense
of humor, and sometimes it is used to get
people off their back.
Sense your child is tired and let them
decompress. They can be stubborn, so
it is hard to change their mind once it is
made up. Present a list of activities and
let them choose which one to do. Do not
overwhelm them with too many activities,
and help them relax with TV.
