through a posting in the Bradenton
Herald,” she recalls. “While I didn’t
know exactly all that this Chamber of
Commerce was, the communications
position matched my early skill set. I was
immediately immersed in an organization
that had the support of so many local
businesses and leaders.”
In 2015, Jacki was named the “Florida
Chamber Professional of the Year” by
the Florida Association of Chamber
Professionals (FACP.) However, that is just
one of many prestigious awards she and
the Chamber have earned over the years.
“To look back now that I am in my 22nd year
with the Chamber and be able to celebrate
a national award, several state awards,
and coveted 5-star national accreditation
for the work that our Chamber has done
is incredibly gratifying.”
After two decades with the Manatee
Chamber, Jacki remains enthusiastic and
passionate about her job. She says most
of her inspiration comes from the people
she encounters every day.
“The best part of my job, hands down, is
the amazing people I have the privilege
of working with every day,” she says.
“From our incredibly talented staff to our
dedicated board and committee leaders
to our membership, there is something
so special about leadership in our
community. From Lakewood Ranch to
Anna Maria Island, from Bradenton to
Palmetto, from Parrish to South County
- and every unique area in Manatee
County in between - people do business
with people; and the Manatee Chamber
is there to build a positive business
environment while enhancing our quality
of life.”
Jacki says one of the most challenging
aspects of her job is also the most
motivating: Helping local businesses and
our community overcome obstacles. Most
recently, the Chamber is busy assisting
local businesses impacted by Red Tide.
“The Chamber is committed to helping
these businesses connect with resources
and assistance while reminding residents
to #livelikeatourist,” she remarks.
Deep Roots in Manatee
Although she was born in California,
Jacki has called Manatee County home
since 1979. That year, Jacki’s father, a
Delta airlines employee, was transferred
from LAX in Los Angeles to help start
operations at Sarasota Bradenton
International Airport (SRQ).
Jacki was in third grade at the time, and
she and her younger sister attended Palma
Sola Elementary, Stewart Elementary,
King Middle and Manatee High School.
“I feel lucky to have grown up in Manatee
County,” she says. “Now I am raising
my two children in a vibrant, growing
community and a locale where people
aspire to vacation. I love that we have the
personality and warmth of a small town
with the amenities and aspirations of a
major metropolitan region.”
Family Time
When she’s not working, Jacki enjoys
spending time with her husband, Mike
Kennedy, and their two elementary-
