River’s End Campground
I love camping!!! It’s a great opportunity to enjoy nature, hook up with
good people and good beer! Get your fire stoked and plan your S’mores
technique. Become one with nature. Ponder your life whilst contemplating
the bigger picture of the planet spinning around you. Good thing for us
is that Tybee offers its very own place to do all of the above and more at
River’s End Campground. This little spot of Tybee paradise, nestled in
a cozy, tree surrounded location on the north end, offers so much more
than just camping, and after sitting down with Jamey Rabun, Campground
Manager, I have all the details!
Running a campground sounds like huge fun and entertainment, but it
isn’t as easy as it sounds. Lots of hard work is involved and Jamey has all the
right background to keep River’s End a smoothly running operation. Having
graduated from Berry College and then on to UGA where he received his
Master’s in Natural Resources, Jamey worked for the Georgia State Parks
for six years before accepting a manager position at Wildwood in Augusta,
Georgia. After five years of successfully running that campground, River’s
End called and Tybee beckoned. The rest is history.
River’s End Campground really is a cool little spot to set up your traveling
home … or not! Catering to everything from huge RV’s to small campers
(87 sites) and tent sites (21), Tybee’s campground also sports eight (8)
camper cabins, which include a variety of amenities for those that are
willing to rough it to a certain extent.
River’s End offers a number of perks to one and all and one of the
best luxuries on site is the swimming pool!! Not to mention they have a

TV Lounge, which doesn’t sound very campy, but when Georgia anybody
is playing any sport, well, it’s nice to have the option! There are also two
bathhouses and two dog parks, as well as a laundry room and a vending
room. The office also has a wonderful gift shop with a variety of gifts for
anyone. With all of these amenities and reasonable rates, it’s maybe not
exactly roughing it, but you will certainly feel like you are out in the great
wide wilderness!
Jamey runs River’s End with eight staff, all who love their job and
why not? They work and live on an island at a campground! Sounds like
paradise to me! You can get more information on the campground by
stopping by 5 Fort Avenue, calling them at (912) 786-5518, visiting their
website at www.riversendcampground.com or emailing them at info@
