4. LACK OF HORSE POWER AWARD: The sport of fox hunting is not activity lacking in horse power. Unfortunately,
this did not hold true for Joann Burrows-Wood, who found herself with zero horsepower when
her car died as she was road-whipping in the Vernon territory. It happened on Meadowburn Road near
Dekay, Luckily, Master Ed Wiley along with two guests who had also been road whipping, were able to push
the car the entire length of Dekay Road and get it back to Bellefour Farm. We are giving Joann a length of
rope along with two straps to attach to riders’ dee rings on saddles to haul her back to safety next time it
happens. Just don't forget to pack them with you!
5. AIRS ABOVE THE GROUND AWARD: This Windy goes to Lee Dillon for a perfect demonstration of How
To Properly Part Company With Your Horse, while visiting at a joint meet! Her first demonstration was
when she tried to negotiate a stone wall while riding with Golden's Bridge Hounds. Her second was while
riding in Virginia and this time it was a coop jump. All who witnessed will agree that she performed a perfect
"10" as far as: "Degree of difficulty,". “Grace in the Air" and "Execution of Landing." We have awarded
her some packable, inflatable cushions to "cushion her next landing." BOTTOMS UP!
6. Our Final Windy Goes to the MAGNIFICENT NINE: That dedicated troupe who forayed south of the
Mason Dixon Line to hunt the rolling hills of Virginia. Sending photos via Facebook, and returning with
smiles from ear to ear, it was indeed a memorable hunting adventure, and you made us all proud (and, of
course, jealous) by representing Windy Hollow Hunt so well. Understandably, these ladies might be feeling
a little nostalgia for the warm climate and southern hospitality , so with
that in mind we have awarded Shayne Haysom, Dale Haysom, Heidi
White, Holly White, Emily Wiley, Lee Dillon, Dorrie Roberts, Eveln
McNally and Peggy Roccio a container of Grits that they might enjoy over
a communal breakfast and rehash a few fond memories.
Ya'll come back now!
Thanks to everyone above who contributed their
stories!
