For me, I’ve been so inspired by
the church leaders in locations
everywhere PPM serves that I
try to model my life after theirs.
Of course, they are involved in
leading their churches in powerful
ways. But everywhere I’ve gone,
I’ve met Christian leaders who act
as the de facto mayors of their
neighborhoods. They recognize
that Jesus has sent them to move
into their neighborhoods, not just
as pastors, but also as people
who bring Good News, serving
the needs of their communities.
So that’s what I do in my
neighborhood in San Diego. When
there are opportunities to witness
in my neighborhood, like serving
on the community council or
pulling weeds at the elementary
school... I’m there. Anything I can
do to make my neighborhood a
better place for everyone to live,
that’s how I want to serve. Just
like on a mission trip, not every
aspect of that is comfortable or
fun. But I try my very best to serve
with the love of Jesus.

And so now it’s your turn. On your
way home, take time to figure out
some practical ways by which
you can bring the Good News to
the community in which God has
planted you.
Don’t be discouraged. Don’t
be sad about leaving the
mission field. Instead, I want to
encourage you to invest in the
fourth stage of your trip - seeing
your neighborhood as your
new mission field with the same
excitement and energy that
brought you on this trip in the
first place.
