MORGAN
Summer 2019 was by far the most
eye-opening and adventurous summer
of my life. I had just graduated from
high school and was looking for
some missions opportunities. I had
been able to participate in several
week-long mission trips through PPM
during high school, but now I wanted
something longer. PPM offered me the
flexibility of serving 2-10 weeks either
domestically or internationally.
In summer 2019, I served as Assistant
Trip Leader for 8 weeks in Puerto
Rico. In that time, I grew close to God
and close to the people around me.
We attended church services, ate way
too much, and loved others through
VBS and construction projects. There
were plenty of laughs and tears.
Coming from a girl who has attended
59
the same church every Sunday since
birth, it was really special to get
involved and invest in many different
churches. It reminded me of just how
powerful and ever-present my God is.
He is always working. I saw that God
breaks every chain and every barrier.
Every week, I witnessed strangers
become family, united by the blood of
Christ, because even though we are
different people, we are worshipping
the same God.
There are many more experiences
than I could share, but I encourage
you and challenge you to get away
from routine and outside of your
comfort zone. That is when you learn
to rely on God. As seasonal staff with
PPM, you will walk alongside brothers
and sisters in Christ as you build up
the local church and build lasting
relationships. And best of all, you will
experience the immense love, power,
and grace of God. I also encourage
you to live on mission at home where
you are! #thepelicanlife is not just
a mission trip. The mission doesn’t
begin or end when you get on or off
the plane...the mission is loving with
God’s love wherever you are and with
whomever you encounter.
