Steering THE
SHIP VICTORIA MARTIN
Getting to know a customer base
personally is not something that all
company owners can pull off — but
small-business owners certainly have
the opportunity.
It’s why Victoria Martin answers the phones at the
business she owns, Space Age Cooling and Heating
in Satellite Beach. She says that it surprises customers
who want to speak to the owner and are expecting
pushback.
“When I answer the phone and someone asks for the
office manager or the owner, they are surprised when
I say they are speaking to her,” Martin said. “I get a
variety of responses, from ‘Oh, really?’ to ‘I love that

you are hands on.’ For
the most part, people
appreciate that I am
active in handling the
day-to-day activities of
the business.”
Martin took over
ownership of Space Age
Cooling and Heating in
2018 with her husband,
Steve Martin, who has
been in the cooling and
heating industry for
more than 20 years. The
company has a total of
four employees and offers
heating, ventilation,
and air conditioning
(HVAC) sales and
service, ductwork,
insulation and indoor
air quality services
throughout Brevard
County.
“We wanted an
opportunity to serve this
community and build
something meaningful,”
Victoria Martin said.
“So, we jumped in.”
When the purchase
of the business was
complete, Victoria
Martin took on the role
of business operations
— something she
had experience in but
in a different realm:
healthcare.
