She had spent two
decades managing
physicians’ offices
and teaching medical
assisting courses at local
trade schools in southern
Arizona. It was there
that she met her nowhusband
Steve in 2007.
“We have not gone a day
without speaking since
we met,” Victoria Martin
said.
In her new role in a
totally new career
field, Victoria Martin
immediately began
looking for ways to
streamline processes to
improve productivity
and customer service.
She analyzed old ways
of handling tasks and
customer service and
began brainstorming
more productive, better
ways to proceed.
“The biggest and best
thing that we have done
so far is take our business
completely cloud based.
Booking appointments,
invoicing customers —
absolutely everything for
our business I can tend
to anywhere I have an
internet connection,” she
said.
“We’ve even teamed up
with an answering service
that works exclusively
with our software to
help me make sure our
customers are given the
attention and care they
need.”
A second wave
Victoria and Steve
Martin decided to
move to the Space
Coast in 2017 after
they became emptynesters.
Their combined
family includes three
adult children and one
grandchild, living in
different places across
the country. They started
by moving to a different
part of Arizona but
quickly decided they
wanted to venture even
further.
“Before moving here,
every vacation we had
we would head to the
beach. Now, I wake up
to the waves crashing
and sunrise each day,”
Victoria Martin said.
“We have found a
love of cruises and we
enjoy boating and just
hanging out at the beach.
Being able to watch so
many launches from
Kennedy Space Center is
something we love to do,
as well.”
Positive pivot
Learning an entirely new
trade has presented its
share of challenges but
Victoria Martin says that
every day is an adventure
— one that she gets to
embark on alongside her
husband.
But getting respect as a
female in a traditionally
male-dominated field can
sometimes be a challenge.
“As a woman in such
male-dominated
industries, I have often
been treated more like
a receptionist than an
owner or someone in
charge,” she said. “Setting
up new accounts or
trying to discuss any of
the bills — there have
been times when no one
took me seriously.”
But she’s persevered,
adding to her knowledge
base with each new
opportunity. In her
current role, she has
tapped her husband’s
expertise to get up to
speed on everything
she needs to know for
operational mastery and
customer success.
“Today, 16 months later,
is it still difficult? Yes,
but I have adapted to
how I react and how I
move forward,” Victoria
Martin said.
The appreciation that
Victoria Martin has for
other women business
owners on the Space
Coast shines through in
her actions.
“I strive to do business
with as many local
businesses that I can,
and in doing that, I met
some of what I consider
the best of Brevard
women. Their support,
guidance and friendship
is priceless,” she said.

those still in service.

families,” Victoria
Martin said.
