Construction uses a

The company offers value

Holly says that she is
grateful for the role, but
that even nearly two
decades in, she has to pay
close attention to finding
balance.
“It’s a challenge to give
my full attention and
energy to all of the
moving parts of running
a business, taking
care of my employees,
planning for the future
both personally and
professionally, while
being a mother to my two
children and a wife to
Lawrence,” she said.
Her children are older
now — Joshua, 21, and
Miya, 15 — but Holly
says she has always found
ways to prioritize time
with them alongside a
demanding work role.
I have always made time

Holly Tanner knows that there aren’t
many women who own construction
businesses — and she likes that it sets
her apart.
“Just stating that I am a woman business owner for
a construction company has been a title that I have
grown to become proud of,” Holly said. “It is the initial
reaction that people have when I tell them what I do
that is probably the most fun. It is not an expectation
that most people have when I introduce myself.”
But Holly likes that her story is different. As an infant,
she was adopted from Taegu, South Korea and moved
to Melbourne a few years later, where she attended
local schools before attending Furman University for
a biology degree and then the University of Central
Florida for a physical therapy degree.
But in 1999, she met her future husband, Lawrence
Tanner. He had recently started his own construction
company, L.H. Tanner, in 1997. When the couple married
in 2001, Holly started learning the ins and outs of the

and you can never get it
back — that is why every

Aligning with likeminded
women in the
community helps keep
Holly learning and
motivated.
“I attend local events
that are sponsored by
Everything Brevard and

“I am able to connect
with all types of women
and men that I have
been able to reach out to
and learn from. We can
always become better and
improve ourselves so that
we can then help the lives
of others.”
