It’s that sense of

President/CEO, Kegman Inc.
Susie Glasgow is used to getting her
Reservist with 29 years of combined
active and reserve service, Glasgow
grew up working in her family’s diesel
repair business in Conroe, Texas.
“My mom didn’t assign household chores based on
gender. The boys joined the girls cleaning dishes,
cooking meals and mowing the yard,” Glasgow said. “I
think that helped me adapt easier in male-dominated
environments, like the military.”
Today, Glasgow is the owner of Kegman Inc., a
government contracting business that provides
scientific, engineering and technical support to the
U.S. government. The company started with just two
employees in 1999 and today it has 39.
“I honestly don’t think of myself as a woman business
owner. I’m just a business owner who happens to be a
woman,” Glasgow said.
The challenges that Glasgow faces being a business owner
have more to do with the localized market than gender.
“The economy is great in Brevard, but the demand for
skilled and educated workers, especially those with
government security clearances, is very high,” Glasgow
said, noting that competing with bigger entities is a
constant push.
“But we’ve been very successful in recruiting incredibly
board of directors.
“I have lived in Brevard
County since 1986
and it is a wonderful
place to live,” Glasgow
said. “However, there
are always things in a
community that need
to be done. I truly
believe if you can help by
volunteering, whether it
be your time or money,
it makes a tremendous
difference.”
Last year, she was the
organizer for the Brevard
Juvenile Diabetes
Research Foundation
Walk and for the past six
years, she has been the
team leader for the Space
Coast Chapter of Women
In Defense’s Making
Strides Against Breast
Cancer annual fundraiser.
She’s a volunteer band
parent at Viera High
School and is driven to
help the Space Coast
Chapter of Women In
Defense raise money
for scholarships that get
awarded to women who
are pursuing a degree
in science, technology,
engineering or math
(STEM).
“I enjoy being a part
and connecting with my
community,” Glasgow
said. “Not only does it
make a difference, I hope
I am setting an example
for others.”
