foodie culture - horizon west style
T he Horizon West food scene is sizzling! Our corner of
Orange County is rising rapidly in the culinary ranks in
Central Florida. A variety of fast-casual options as well
as fine dining for fancier affairs make our community a major
draw for both foodies and families.
It wasn't long ago that diners had to hop on the expressway
to experience great food, but that's no longer necessary!
The addition of culturally diverse cuisine, hip hangouts and
casual eats is changing the landscape of dining out in Horizon
West. The area's village-centric design has made it possible
to create food culture – no travel required. Each village center
continues to expand with influences from around the world
as well as dining options featuring signature dishes, crafted
cocktails and select wine and beer lists.
The first-established village of Lakeside kicks off the culinary
list. Keke's and First Watch offer brunches that are the final
word on Sunday Funday. Watching the game is best done
on the big screens as Gators Dockside offers delicious eats
with plenty of space for the whole crew. New to Lakeside is
Rokka's Market offering Brazilian favorites in their cafe, fresh
cuts of meat and delicious ready-to-cook take home meals.
Delivery is available from local favorites like Tijuana Flats,
Flippers Pizzeria or Little Greek.
The Hamlin area of our Horizon West Town Center has made
a name for itself in Central Florida as the destination spot to
watch. The French Café is the quintessential neighborhood
corner cafe with a menu combining old world French favorites
with a twist of Americana. The Pizza Press caters to the casual
side of the Town Center set with its newsworthy pizzas, live
music and no-fuss craft taps. Add in the Great Greek, offering
exceptional Greek fare in a friendly, fast-casual setting.
The Mark, the emerging village center for the Seidel area,
boasts Horizon West's first brewery! New York Beer Project
brings the history of American brewing to life by recreating
a famous lower Manhattan Beer Hall – complete with 7-foot
gaslight chandeliers and 15-foot chestnut trees. The indoor
beer garden, taproom and gastropub with unique takes on
iconic NY dishes are sure to draw a crowd.
The Horizon West village of Bridgewater has seen an explosion
of flavors in its general area! Whatever you crave, you'll find it
here. HUMBL (plant-based eats), Burger-Fi, Bruster's Real Ice
Cream, Clean Juice and a second location of The French Café
are serving up their specialties, while Agave Azul, Poke Hana,
Juan Valdez Café and Josie's Pizza and Wings have all joined
the neighborhood offering cultural cuisine ranging from
Hawaiian style eats, craft Mexican, international coffees to NY
style pizza. The addition of ALDI was met with much
anticipation and excitement for residents who delight in
fabulous European finds and great deals. ALDI is known for its
German heritage, bringing decadent cheeses, wines and
chocolates along with a wide selection of coffee, organic
products and grocery store go-to's for everyday shopping.
Foxtail Coffee has made a home in the Summerport neighborhood
center and there are more eateries planned for
the Summerport Village center itself on the lakefront along
Big Fish Court.
Throughout our community, home-based chefs and
bakers have begun to emerge at the forefront, delighting
foodies with niche favorites that can be pre-purchased for
pick up or delivery. Jeff's Bagel Run, Sweet Dumply, Otus
Coffee, Atlas Bakehouse and many more bring restaurant-
quality goods into the everyday, thanks to these home-made
chefs. Look for these and others at community markets and
events including Horizon West Fest and the food-fan-favorite
Flavor Fest of Horizon West.
With foodie culture on the rise here, culinary connoisseurs
can come together locally at Horizon West eateries as well as
