Eat, Drink & Be Merry
An exciting culinary, craft beer
and artisanal spirit scene is on
re with creativity and diversity.
Locally owned restaurants, craft
breweries and distilleries are the
norm, each offering a unique taste
experience. “I love that in such a
small footprint you can experience
an array of ethnic and avorful
offerings from around the world,”
says Steve Westphal, a successful
food entrepreneur who owns a
number of restaurants near the
downtown waterfront. In addition
to nine craft breweries, there
are also three artisan distilleries.
The newest, American Freedom
Spirits, was founded by three
former Green Berets, who produce
homegrown premium rum and
whiskey in a 16,000-square-foot
warehouse in the heart of the city’s
Warehouse Arts District.
