The ‘Burg’s colorful, quirky
street murals have earned the
city acclaim as “One of the Best
Street Art Cities in the World”
in 2016 by the Hufngton Post.
Now, a Virtual Accessible Audio
Tour makes St. Pete the rst city
in the country to create a mural
experience that visually impaired
individuals can enjoy.
Thanks to a unique collaboration
among the St. Petersburg Arts
Alliance and local artist –playwright
Sheila Cowley and actress Eugenie
Bondurant, a vivid, detailed
description of 40 of the city’s murals
can be heard from a smart phone
or computer. Visually impaired
individuals can join friends and
family in a self-guided walking tour
of the murals and not miss out.
“The St. Petersburg Arts Alliance
believes our city’s murals should
be accessible to all regardless of
ability or disability,” says executive
director John Collins.
St. Pete’s passion for urban street
art is a source of local pride and
celebrated each fall during the
annual Shine Mural Festival. That’s
when urban mural artists, both
local and international, are invited
to participate in adding to this
unique form of public art in the
Sunshine City.

See amazing glass art at Duncan

Morean Arts Center’s Glass Hot
Shop and the Chihuly Collection.
And appreciate the art of pottery
at Charlie Parker Pottery and the
Morean Center for Clay.
