JESUIT PERSPECTIVES • SPRING 2018 17
Three Jesuit juniors have been
recognized this spring for distinguishing
themselves as Men for
Others.
Jeremiah Nichols ’19 spent much of
his youth at the Boys & Girls Club,
and in recent years Nichols developed
into a student leader at the club with a
demonstrated commitment to service.
That commitment was recognized in
March when he was named the Youth
of the Year for the Boys & Girls Clubs
of Tampa Bay, with the opportunity to
be considered for the statewide Boys
& Girls Clubs Youth of the Year honor.
Trace Nuss ’19 recently received two
exceptional honors. Nuss is one of
7-county Tampa Bay area to receive
the Gen. H. Norman Schwarzkopf
Leadership Award, "in recognition
of outstanding accomplishments in
keeping with the ideals of the United
States Military Academy." The Hon.
Gregory P. Holder, P '04, a West Point
alumnus, presented Nuss with the
award at Convocation in April.
Also, the U.S. Bowling Congress

Vivero, who will study music at
Belmont University, has played
the keyboard and piano at Jesuit
events, Mass, music concerts, etc.,
while winning numerous awards at
competition.
School president Fr. Richard C.
Hermes, S.J. announced at Convocation
in March that Vivero would

in addition to his piano skills, Vivero
receives an award of $2,000 in
tuition assistance; six months of

to be the professional organist for
weddings in the Chapel of the Holy

for the Italian Baroque composer
and Jesuit missionary Domenico
for Others’
ic success and gives back to their community. Nuss, who has a 193 bowling average,
is a dedicated member of Key Club and year-round Special Olympics multi-sport
coach.
Phillip Thompson ’19 has demonstrated an exemplary commitment to service with,
among others, Key Club and Agmen Christi. At Convocation in April, Thompson was
announced as a recipient of the Anne Frank Humanitarian Award from the Florida
Holocaust Museum. In late May, Thompson will be recognized during a special
ceremony at the museum in St. Petersburg.
