The Glitter Queens’ Royal Ball
The St. Pete Glitter Queens held “What a Wonderful World,” their Fourth Annual Royal Ball at the Gulfport Casino.
New Orleans’ French Quarter came to life there with the krewe’s elaborate decorations, Ricky P’s Orleans Bistro’s buffet and
the Shawn Brown Band’s toe-tapping music. Mike McNally emceed and Alex Harris premiered his “The Angel Song.” This
year’s Gala benefitted Angels Against Abuse, which makes a difference in the lives of the thousands of children and youth in our
community who have been abused and neglected.
St. Petersburg’s First Lady Kerry Kriseman
and her husband Mayor Rick Kriseman were
impressed with the enthusiasm and hard
work of the St. Pete Glitter Queens, who
are rightfully known as a social krewe
with a giving heart.
Terri McNally, one of the Glitter Queens’
founders, enlisted her husband Mike to serve
as the New Orleans-themed benefit’s master
of ceremonies, a position he has held and
excelled at during past Royal Balls.
Tom Shanahan and his wife Joyce, a
founding member of the Glitter Queens, who
handled publicity for the benefit, admired the
festive “Big Easy” decorations that the group
made by hand and glittered themselves.
Kelly McFrederick and Jack Rice were the
high bidders on the Gala silent auction’s
South African safari, which was similar to the
one they won at last year’s Royal Ball and
went on for their honeymoon.
Mary and Scott Rehm enjoyed bidding on
silent auction items at the Royal Ball, which
they attend each year with her sister
Margie Blue, who is one of the St. Pete
Glitter Queens’ founding members.
Mike Morrow and his wife Maria,
a founding member of the Glitter Queens,
liked dancing to the music of the Shawn
Brown Band and joining in on the Second
Line with musician Henry Ashwood.
