The 2015 Silver Coffee
“Moonlight on Magnolia,” The Silver Coffee Committee’s 2015 Southern-themed benefit for the Children’s Home Society
of Florida’s Gulf Coast Division, took place in the Clearwater home of Suzanne and John Huston. Since the event originated
in 1978, its committee has grown and changed, and the benefit has morphed from a ladies’ afternoon coffee with delectables
made by the committee members and a large silver bowl to collect donations into a co-ed evening party with cocktails; a
dinner planned by the Committee, which still makes everything except the main course; and music played from the balcony
this year by Ramblegraff. Over the years, the “Coffee” has brought tremendous support to the Children’s Home Society,
which, for over one hundred years, has actively pursued its mission of embracing children, inspiring young lives and
preparing them for positive decision making and independent living.
Jennifer Hayslett and Lily Hupp co-chaired the
2015 Silver Coffee Committee, whose members
traditionally make the party’s pre-dinner
hors d’oeuvres themselves.
Trudy and John Cooper, who were happy that
the benefit was in their neighborhood, support
the Society’s efforts to break the tragic cycle
of abuse and neglect.
Suzanne and John Huston graciously opened
their historic Harbor Oaks home and grounds
to help the Children’s Home Society protect
children and strengthen families.
Anne Slaughter was proud that her parents
John and Patricia were sponsors and that her
mother is the only founding committee
member still serving on the fundraiser.
City of Clearwater Council Member Doreen
Hock DiPolito and her husband Andy Caudell
enjoyed dining al fresco with friends and
colleagues for a good cause.
John Simmons and his wife Sara, a former
Silver Coffee Committee member, were
excited about their son Matt’s recent
marriage to Coley Westerberg.
