This year’s talented crop of racers includes 17-year-old
Max Root from San Diego, California, the 2018 recipient
of the IMSA Hurley Haywood Scholarship, which provides
support for an aspiring racer with limited previous experience
in the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge USA by Yokohama.
Last year’s scholarship recipient, Jake Eidson, went on to
win the 2017 Platinum Cup championship.
Root will drive the No. 7 Wright Motorsports machine
in the Platinum Cup class, one of three entries from the
Ohio-based team that also fi elds the No. 58 Porsche 911
GT3 R in the WeatherTech Championship for two-time

for up-and-coming racers and sportsman drivers taking
their fi rst steps into the world of professional motorsport.
Kicking off its 14th season this week at Sebring International
Raceway with a pair of races, the Porsche GT3
Cup Challenge USA by Yokohama is one of the largest
of Porsche’s 21 single-make Cup Challenge series in the
world. Every race is a 45-minute, all-out sprint, with every
driver behind the wheel of one of the world’s most iconic
race cars, the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup.
