Sebring to Witness New Era
for Continental Tire Challenge

Mercedes-AMG joining series regulars Aston Martin, Ford,
McLaren and Porsche.
Over 30 entries competed in GS at the season-opening
BMW Endurance Challenge at Daytona International
Speedway in late January, during which defending champions
RS1 with its Porsche Cayman GT4 MR showed why
they took the class crown in 2017, starting from the pole
and going on to lead over 100 laps to collect the win.
Not far behind, however, was BimmerWorld Racing, a former
Street Tuner (ST) class team stepping up to GS with
the new BMW M4 GT4. The fi rst of seven Ford Mustang
GT4s – co-driven by 2017 GS Sebring winner Scott Maxwell
with two NASCAR young guns, Cole Custer and Ty
Majeski – fi nished third, and nearly as many Mustangs are
expected to compete at Sebring.
Competing in tandem with the IMSA WeatherTech Sports-
Car Championship at the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring
Presented by Advance Auto Parts weekend is the IMSA
Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge, featuring sports cars
from worldwide manufacturers straight from the showroom
fl oor to the racetrack.
In its fi fth race at Sebring International Raceway, the Continental
Tire Challenge returns bigger and better than ever
with new manufacturers, race cars, teams and drivers in
what has been called a breakout year for the three-class
series.
Grand Sport (GS) returns as the top-performing class in
the Continental Tire Challenge, with all race cars tuned to
the universal GT4 specifi cations. The move to GT4, which
was rolled out in 2017, has led to an explosion of man-
