MOXXIE: What do you love about coaching high school football?
CHAPPELL: It’s those relationships I form with every player. It’s
mentoring the boys and watching them grow in all aspects of their
life and not just as football players.
MOXXIE: Is there anything you dislike about coaching high school
football?
CHAPPELL: It’s a problem all over but it’s having to do a lot of
parenting. It can become frustrating. I don’t like to do it. But if it
has to be done to keep the program going, then it has to be done.
Another thing is kids today have too much downtime and we all
know, downtime is the devil’s playground. So we try our best to
keep our kids busy all year.
MOXXIE: What advice would you give a player today who is
thinking of getting into coaching?
CHAPPELL: It depends on the level. If it’s the high school level, I
would tell him or her to be willing to do anything to get on a staff.
Even if it’s doing the laundry. Once on the staff, you can grow as a
coach and earn more responsibilities. If it’s on the college level or
professional level, you must be willing to move a lot in the early
years. Sort of a house on wheels. And most importantly, you must
be willing to put in the time. If they are married, they need to have
an understanding and forgiving spouse.

COACH POSTELL CONT.
MOXXIE: Is there anything you dislike about coaching high
school football?
POSTELL: I don’t have any dislikes coaching football or
coaching young men.
MOXXIE: When was it that you knew that you wanted to be
a coach?
POSTELL: It was at an early age. My dad was a head football
coach for 22 years, so I kind of grew up in the world of football
and athletics. So, I knew at an early age that it was something
I wanted to do when I got older.
MOXXIE: What is one of the most inspiring things that you
can give to an athlete that is thinking about getting into
coaching?
POSTELL: Just be sure it’s something you want to do
because in today’s world, it’s a year-round job, especially in
football. It is a lifestyle. Never think that a job is beneath you
once you begin coaching. I mean I still do things like washing
uniforms, sweeping, cleaning locker rooms and bathrooms.
Coaching is more than just being on the field.
