Haywood County Chamber of Commerce, Waynesville
Why I chose my career: I didn’t necessarily chose the Chamber profession,
it chose me. I had an opportunity to work a temporary part time position with a
Chamber of Commerce in another area, and quickly came to learn how much I
loved it. At one point, the president of that Chamber told me that I was born to be a
chamber professional and that I was years ahead of most people that were already
in the profession. He offered to give me some initial training and through that, I
realized that I had found my lifetime career and true passion.
One thing I learned the hard way: Sometimes the ones you trust and care
about do not always have your best interest in mind.
You’d never know this about me but: I feel like my life is an open book and
there isn’t much that I don’t share. But, one thing that people probably don’t know
about me is that I was once rated a 4.0 tennis player and I played competitively.
I also love to cook and entertain. Being at home in my casual clothes doing home
Projects makes me happy and I love it.
Why I love doing business here in Haywood County: I have always
felt that Haywood County was special. There is an attraction about it, something
magical. The beauty and the people here are not like other places. I have always
said that these mountains of Haywood County have a way of wrapping their arms
around you and never letting you go. I know because it happened to me.
Words of wisdom: Be true to who you are!

The Print Haus, Waynesville
About my business: We are a local, family owned business now celebrating
our 37th year. My parents started The Print Haus when I was a 1 year old! We are a
printing and sign business and we provide anything that has something printed on it.
We do everything from business cards, brochures, invoices and books to banners,
signs, coffee cups, shirts, pens and even direct mail. If it can be printed, we can do
it. We have 13 wonderful employees who live in Haywood and Jackson County and
work at our locations in Waynesville and Sylva. We love keeping it local - it is what
keeps us in business!
Best business advice I have ever received: My parents instilled in me early
on that doing things the right way is the only way to do it. Sometimes it costs more
money to do it that way but, in the end, a happy customer is a returning customer
and that is most important.
You’d never know this about me but: I am the former sit-up record holder
at Central Elementary. One of my friends and I had an ongoing competition but
I won in the end. For all I know my record may still stand on the wall of the gym!
Words of wisdom: The world would be a much better place if everyone could
live by the Golden Rule!
