Tim Brophy, US Army, US Navy Reserve
Living in Poughkeepsie, New York, I knew I wanted to serve my country and
see the world. My father was an Army Veteran, which made my decision
easier. I enlisted in the Army and served three years before leaving to go to
college. After college, I decided to enlist in the Navy reserves as a Hospital
Corpsmen (Combat Medic) with the Marines. During my times in the reserves,
I was activated for a year for Desert Storm.
I was assigned to the Orlando Naval Hospital providing training at the Naval
Center for Deployment for Desert Storm.
While in the Army, I was stationed in Germany. It was nice to be able to see
France, East Berlin, Austria and Sweden. I’ll never forget when we would have
to pull border patrol along the Berlin Wall. Those were some memories.
When I left the military, I went back to college. I went into a career in the
clinical and healthcare management industry.
Serving in the military left me walking away with a tremendous sense of
honor for this country and our way of life.
