What is your business/career?
I am the managing editor for a lifestyle magazine out of
Wilmington, NC called Wilmington Magazine, and I am also a
freelance writer and producer.
When is the last time you danced?
Probably 5 minutes ago. You can find me dancing in the
hallways, in my car, kitchen, shower, even in the chair at my
desk. I love music and seem to be able find a beat in almost
anything.
What is your biggest fear?
As far as a ‘scary dream type’ fear goes, a tsunami. I will never
forget hearing the harrowing stories from survivors of the 2004
tsunami in the Indian Ocean. Mother Ocean is so very powerful.
What is your proudest accomplishment?
From a fairly young age I had aspirations of being in the
entertainment/media industry in some sort of creative capacity.
Upon graduation from the University of Tennessee, I accepted a
position with Universal Records in Los Angeles. My move to the
west coast jumpstarted my career and led to writer/producer
roles with television networks like E! and HGTV. I’m so grateful
for the many fun and memorable experiences!
What is your favorite book to read?
At the moment, Nurture, a modern guide to pregnancy, birth,
early motherhood, and trusting yourself and your body. My
husband Jonathan and I are expecting our miracle baby girl
in March so I am just a sponge to any information related
pregnancy and babies. I really like the book Nurture, because it
provides practical information and essential advice in a kind and
loving way (covering it all from conception to postpartum). It
also focuses on the importance of a mother’s self-care – tips on
nourishing foods, relieving exercises and mindfulness. I would
recommend it to anyone expecting.
What or who makes you laugh the most?
I seriously LOVE a good laugh. If I need an afternoon pick me
up, a quick dose of the Ellen DeGeneres Show will set me
straight. I am guaranteed to laugh out loud at least once.
What was the last movie you went to see? What did you
think?
Once Upon a Time in Hollywood starring Brad Pitt and
Leonardo DiCaprio. I thought it was great! I felt like I didn’t
know what was going to happen next, and I really enjoyed the
throwback to 1960’s Hollywood. Pitt and DiCaprio, together,
were fantastic!
What would you sing at Karaoke night?
I would channel my inner Stevie Nicks and sing Dreams by
Fleetwood Mac.
If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what
would it be?
Spaghetti, hands down. Pass the Parmesan cheese, please.
What’s your favorite life motto?
“Life’s too short to wake up with regrets. So love the people
who treat you right, forgive the ones who don’t and believe that
everything happens for a reason. If you get a chance, take it.
If it changes your life, let it. Nobody said it’d be easy, they just
promised it would be worth it.”
