fabulous FLURRIES
This month at Anita, we had a blast playing with
an alternate take on our confetti technique in
our latest release, Snowy Confetti Quilt! Using
a few easy-to-find supplies, we added a magical
touch: paper cut snow flurries drifting under the
organza in each block!
This fun and easy snowy creation makes
adorable blocks for a wall hanging or decorative
display piece, but sometimes life brings us stains
or spills (on accident, of course!) and then you’re
stuck figuring out how to wash your beautiful
project. With the paper cut snowflakes, getting
the quilt wet is definitely not ideal or else your
snowflakes will quickly “melt” away! For a more
spot-clean friendly version of this project, we
wanted to shed some light on a fun material we
had on hand: Shimmer Sheetz by Elizabeth Craft
Designs. Easily found in most hobby stores,
online, or direct from the manufacturer, this
material comes in packs of 3 thick mylar sheets
measuring 5” x 12”, perfect for punching shapes
and adding even more wintry fun to your quilt.
Follow along with the Snowy Confetti Quilt’s
tutorial steps until your reach the step for laying
down your flurries, then use this article to walk
you through making a sparkly addition that’s
sure to last (just be sure to still avoid the dryer)!
