So, here are a few things we’d
love for you to know about purchasing
a home here in the mountains:
Affordability — Blairsville and
Union County are a buyer’s market.
Starter homes, single-family homes,
townhouses, condominiums, lakefront
and riverfront estates, and
homes in retirement communities
are all available at remarkably reasonable
prices. As of January 2020,
the average home price in Union
County was $265,407. The typical
home was a 3/2.5, with prices in the
$400,000 to $600,000 range for
larger, 4- and 5-bedroom homes.
Styles — Typically, homes here
are either stick-built (framed) or
stacked (log). The classic look is the
soaring “prow front” with tons of
windows to take in the views and a
high, vaulted interior. While true log
homes are not as plentiful, there are
plenty of “face log” options — basically,
a veneer of logs as siding. We’re also
seeing lots of cement board siding,
which looks great and dramatically
cuts down on maintenance.
