Alexander’s: A Shopper’s Dream
In 1953, Hoyt and Ruby Alexander purchased a small trading post in the Trackrock
area of Union County. Hoyt began selling feed and seed, a few groceries
and gas. If a customer came into the store looking for something Hoyt didn’t
have, he would make a special trip to get whatever the customer wanted.
Since then, Alexander’s has evolved into a tourist landmark, plus a shopping
experience with casual yet trendy clothing and shoes, furniture and mattresses,
gifts and accessories, as well as guns and ammunition.
Alexander’s is a family-owned business passed down three generations, and is
now run by grandson Mark and his wife Kennetha. Alexander’s is a testimony
to how a family business can succeed in today’s era of mega stores and online
shopping. Be sure to stop in the store that has “everything under the sun.”
