Located a few miles north of Blairsville is 18-hole Old
Union Golf Course, which offers a large practice area and
a design inspired by classic links courses. It’s home to
several tournaments each year.
A Great Place to “Unwine”
Three north Georgia counties — including Union — and
two western North Carolina counties have been designated
as the Upper Hiwassee Highlands American
Viticultural Area (AVA) because the climate and soil are
so distinct. The combination of elevation, topography
and sunny growing season allow our area wineries,
vineyards and distilleries to thrive. They offer tasting
rooms, as well as live music and seasonal events regularly
throughout the year to visitors from near and far.

Golf at its Best
Maybe it’s just us, but the ball does seem to fly a little
farther in our clear mountain air! Union County’s own
Butternut Creek Golf Course is incredibly located right
in downtown Blairsville below beautiful Ivy Log Mountain.
The Bill Watts-designed course features a very
playable combination of rolling valley holes and challenging
mountain slopes with mountain views from all
18 holes. Butternut Creek plays to 6,500-plus yards with
plenty of mounds, rolling greens and elevation changes.
The course is operated by the Union County Recreation
Department.

info on hiking trails, waterfalls
and other area attractions.
Designed by Denis Griffiths, Brasstown Valley Golf
Course was ranked by both Golf Digest and Leading Golf
Courses of America as one of the top courses to play in
Georgia. The beautiful mountain course winds through
wildlife preserves, ponds and streams, and features five
sets of tees for all skill levels.
