RememberWhen
Highlights from Our Past Issues
25 YEARS AGO - July/August 1996
This 1996 Best Of
cover was designed by
then art director Tony
Chaplinsky Jr., using
letters from vintage
postcards.
Although some of the Best Of Tampa Bay winners are no longer in business, many
are still going strong and won again in this year’s competition. Places such as the
Palm Pavilion on Clearwater Beach, the Museum of Fine Arts, St. Petersburg, Alfano’s
Restaurant in Clearwater, Guppy’s on Indian Rocks Beach, Casa Tina in Dunedin,
Frenchy’s on Clearwater Beach, the Tampa Bay Lightning in Tampa, Cooter’s Raw
Bar in Clearwater Beach, Caladesi Island, E&E Stakeout Grill in Belleair Bluffs,
LaPosh Hair Salon in Clearwater, the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center (now the
Straz Center) in Tampa, Stageworks in Tampa, Columbia Restaurant in Tampa, and
Bon Appétit and Cafe Alfresco in Dunedin earned recognition this year, just as they
did 25 years ago.
10 YEARS AGO - July/August 2011
A feature article in this
issue discussed our 25 years
of publishing. We also had an
article by editor Margaret Word
Burnside on how she edits her
husband Aaron Fodiman. Ten
years have passed, and she
continues to tell him, “You know
you can’t say that,” and he
continues to make remarks that
she edits out without the least bit
of remorse. She still won’t let him
put in print what he erroneously
believes is humorous.
JULY/AUGUST 2021 | TAMPA BAY MAGAZINE 105
We designed this cover to
celebrate our 25th anniversary,
which makes this issue our
35th anniversary.
