exhausted, then the Superintendent directs the KCSD Board Attorney to seek injunctive relief through the courts.
Educational services for the child or youth are not terminated during the period of expulsion. If the KCSD expels
a child or youth who is receiving specially designed instruction and related services, then within two (2) school days
of the Board action, the DSE sends notice of an Administrative ARC meeting according to policies and procedures in
Section VI and timelines in Section III. The Administrative ARC meets to review and revise the IEP, according to policies
and procedures in 6.0 IEP, for implementation in the home of the child or youth. The DSE selects appropriate KCSD
teachers and related service personnel to provide specially designed instruction and related services in the home of
the child or youth.

5. DISCIPLINE RESPONSE OPTIONS
The disciplinary measures set out under each procedure may be applied singularly or in combination. The rules,
regulations and procedures listed in the discipline codes in no way take away or detract from the routine day-to-day classroom
discipline exercised by the teachers of the Knox County School System. Teachers still have at their disposal all of the disciplinary
measures normally exercised by the classroom teacher, such as conferences with student and/or parents/guardians and assignments
of punishment for classroom misbehavior.
