Dear Students, Parents and Guardians,
In accordance with KRS 158.148, this student handbook has been prepared by our staff and provided for
your information and future reference concerning student responsibilities and expected behavior during
the 2020-2021 school year, including Summer School and all school-sponsored summer activities.
Parents/guardians, please review this handbook with your child(ren) to ensure that the entire family has
a complete understanding of the laws, regulations, and policies relating to student conduct. Students,
please review the handbook to fully understand all your rights and responsibilities.
After reviewing and discussing the handbook, please sign and return the forms that your school
provided as part of the registration packet. These forms should have been distributed at the time your
child/family received a copy of the handbook. If you are missing these forms, please contact your child’s
school. These forms provide acknowledgment and consent of the following:
Acknowledgment of Receipt of the Student Code of Conduct and Attendance Policy
Acknowledgement of School Safety including Terroristic Threating
Student Directory Information Notification
Drug Testing Consent Form (High School)
Electronic Access/User Agreement
Consent for Electronic/Telephone Notification
Notification of Student Records Retention and Destruction for Special Education
Any questions or requests for further interpretation of this handbook may be directed to the school
principal and/or the Superintendent’s Office. Please note that this handbook is subject to revision by the
Knox County Public Schools’ Student Code of Conduct & Attendance Handbook Committee and the
Knox County Board of Education. An addendum may be issued at any time during the school year.
