5. FIFTH REFERRAL
At the discretion of the principal, a letter may be sent to the Superintendent and/or designee to request the suspension from the
bus for the remainder of the semester. Attached to the letter will be copies of past warning letters and notification of
suspension that were mailed to the parent/guardian. The superintendent and/or his designee is charged with the disposition of
the recommendation (at principal's discretion).
6. APPEALS PROCEDURES
A. Students and their parents or guardians have the right of any decision rendered against them by school personnel. The
order of appeal is as follows:
(1) Student to teacher;
(2) Teacher to principal;
(3) Principal to assistant superintendent;
(4) Assistant superintendent to superintendent;
(5) Superintendent to Board.
B. This policy should not be construed to mean that a pupil or parent is not free to confer with the Superintendent or Board
whenever he or she wishes. However, use of the appeal channels will usually expedite settlement of a grievance.

BUS DISCIPLINE RESPONSE OPTIONS
Student conduct on school buses, as a part of the school environment, follows all the requirements and provisions outlined in this code.
The right of all pupils to ride the school bus is conditioned on their good behavior and the observance of strict rules. Failure to obey
these rules will result in the student being reported to the school principal or his/her designee who will follow the following procedure:

SECTION 24. If a pupil's conduct on the bus is such that it endangers the lives or morals of the other people of the bus
and makes it unsafe for the bus to continue on its route, and when requested by the driver to desist from such conduct and
the pupil does not comply, it shall be the duty of the driver to order the pupil to leave the bus. Should the order be
ignored, the driver shall eject the pupil from the bus or send for assistance, whichever the circumstance dictates.
If ejecting a pupil from the bus is required, the driver shall notify the principal of the school where
the pupil attends, the district superintendent, or some other school authority of the action taken as soon as possible.
SECTION 26. The driver shall have the authority to assign a pupil to a specific seat on the school bus.
B. 702 KAR 5:050 Supervision and Discipline of Pupils

discipline of the pupils who ride school buses. The principal shall assist the school bus driver with discipline problems
which arise on the bus when the school bus driver shall have made the proper report on the discipline problem either in
person or in writing.
SECTION 3. A pupil who creates a serious safety or discipline problem or persists in creating discipline problems on
the school bus shall be reported to the principal or person designated by the Board to handle bus discipline problems.
The principal or person designated by the Board shall have the authority to forbid the pupil bus riding privileges until
the problem is resolved. A student whose bus riding privileges have been suspended shall not be allowed on the bus again
until the driver receives written permission by the principal or his designee.
