She is the wife of 38 years of marriage
B f i d h lldit t Mi h l
the of 38 marriage to her
Boyfriend, as she called it, to Michael Brown.
They have four children, thirteen grandchild, and
one great grandchild. During a dream, she thought
a bigger plan for her life would be her calling. She
thought it was related to her teaching career. The
bigger plan, designed by God became apparent.
She was diagnosed with Breast Cancer in 2008.
Before this occurrence, she asked God to reveal
the purpose of her life. She was eager to pursue
His Will. How could she serve Him better? What
could she influence with her ministry? What
would He have her to do here on earth?
Her sojourn through breast cancer reflected
a Christian who felt God’s blessed assurance
and love when she needed Him most. God knew
she trusted His Word, and she would walk this
journey with faith. She went before the Church and
asked for prayer. During the treatments, she
became known for encouraging women to take off
the wigs and show off their bald heads. While in
the hospital for treatments, doctors would ask her
if she could encourage one of their patients who
had just been diagnosed. In 2008, it was rare to
seek women with no hair, but Danita embraced it.
She let everyone know that God has her, and she
would survive. While going through Chemo, her
Pastor, Bartholomew Orr visited her and she
shared with him the need for a Cancer support
Group at the Church, not only for members of
Brown Church Family, but for the community
at-large. The Cancer Support Group has been
going Strong for over twelve years!
Sometimes, reliving a struggle is too painful.
But,not for Danita Brown, it strengthens her for
her faith-walk. It motivates her to support others.
It moves her from victim to victory.
