Growing up her mother, the late Mildred
Flynn-Alston, worked and retired from University
of Tennessee Bold Hospital and her father, the
late Solomon Alston, was a gospel singer, a
truck driver and later he became a Bishop at The
House of Prayer Church in Chicago, IL. She is
the seventh child of eleven and as a teenager,
she attended Northside High School. In the late
90s, she was certied as a pharmacy technician
and spent many years in thateld. Later in life
and more recently,she received her associates
degree ice Administration from Southwest
TN Community College. As an adult,she raised
four children, three sons and one daughter.
Senita was married to the late William Washington.
After his passing in 1996, she raised her
children as a single mom until their adulthood.
She has been a member of Brown her entire life
and was baptized in 1972 at age nine by the late
Rev. Leon Acey and sang in the children’s choir
under the leadership of Sister Johnella Acey for
as long as she can remember. As years
progressed, she became more actively involved.
The church became her haven and a second
home. She loved spending most of her time there
and the feeling has never left. Now, she is
employed as the Event Administrative Assistant
for Brown. She teach Zumba Gold, which is a
part of the Sports Fitness Ministry, to fellow
members of the church and the community to
create a fun and safe place for people to get to
know each other, as well as stat, happy and
healthy. Along with Zumba (Sports Fitness
Ministry), she is also apart of several other
Ministries: Greeters Ministry, Cancer Support
Ministry, The Sanctuary Choir and Season Saints
Choir.
The time she has spent at Brown has made her
a better person spiritually, emotionally, and
physically. She is grateful to be a part of
the Brown Missionary Baptist Church family,
especially under the leadership of Pastor
Bartholomew Orr.

years for my life to be in the position that it is in
today and I am truly blessed to work alongside
those who want to make a change in the world”.
