Let’s talk boating lunch trip getaways for these hot summer months,
when the only place any of us want to be is on the water.
We consider a lunch trip getaway a location for which you can depart
mid-morning and return by dinner. We base these times on a boat
capable of traveling at 25 to 30 mph.
So, why don’t we start in Englewood on the
waters of Lemon Bay at the Tom Adams
Bridge. From there head south to our first
destination, on our portside (that is your left).
At Beach Road Wine Bar & Bistro you will find
excellent food and a great shop, with beachy
housewares and seaside knickknacks.
Our favorite offerings include the international
cheese platter, the many craft beers and the
diverse wine list. There is indoor and outdoor
seating, and it is a pet-friendly location.
Beach Road Wine Bar & Bistro is the place to
go if you are looking for healthy gourmet food
with a fresh focus.
My wife and I love to entertain here. I spoke
with the chef who suggested the daily
specials and their famous cane-sugar-seared
Ahi tuna with a sweet and spicy dry rub. They
are also known for their fresh catch menu, but
you will need to ask your server for the details.
Yet, I think I will stick with my lamb sliders.
Beach Road Wine Bar & Bistro is not hard to
find, and the channel into dockage is well
marked. If you are heading north on the
Intracoastal Waterway, just before you come
to the Tom Adams bridge (about 100’) look
on your starboard side and you will see the
sign into the restaurant. Look for the white
condo with the blue-green windows.
Keeping it on your port, follow the channel
around and to the rear and you will see the
wine bar tucked away. You will see a lot of
boats there, as the property is shared with a
boat rental company. If it looks full, pull up
near the docks and ask if they can find you a
spot. They seem to always be very helpful.
From here, head out and continue straight
across the ICW and continue through the
boat mooring field to Manasota Key. We will
turn to our starboard (your right). Directly
