I started playing for Coach
Mindy Odom when I was 9
years old on her girls’ travel
basketball team. Coach Odom
was always tough on us even
though we were young. We
spent several weekends traveling
and playing basketball. We
went to several National Tournaments,
and our best finish
was 9th place in the nation.
Coach Odom taught me how
to be disciplined and coachable
at a young age.
I continued my career playing
at the high school level at
Cookeville High School under
Coach Odom. She pushed me
even harder and was one of the
toughest coaches I have ever
had. She made me work harder
and play harder. She expected
nothing but my best. Coach
Odom shaped me as a person
and a ball player in high school.
I believe that if she had not
pushed me like she did I would
not have made it through college
basketball.
at Tennessee Tech University.
I had to work even harder for
those four years. It all started
when I was nine years old.
Coach Odom expected me to
work hard and that drive stuck
with me through the years. She
taught me some great life lessons
that I will take with me
through my life. Thank you
Coach Odom!
