The desire to host a Christmas
Tournament in Jamestown has
been idealized for many years.
Citizens within Fentress County
wanted an opportunity to
display their school and their
community. The towns of the
Upper Cumberland Region in
Tennessee take pride in young
people, and their sports programs,
just like people throughout
the Southeast.
In January 2016, Hall Family
Pharmacy made a commitment
in conjunction with York
Institute to sponsor an eight
team boys’ and an eight team
girls’ Christmas Invitational.
The concept was for the tournament
to be a Southeastern Regional
Invitational with teams
from the three states of Tennessee,
Kentucky, and Alabama.
The Hall family has been
very supportive of the schools
within Fentress County and the
surrounding area. The importance
of education and pride
within one’s community is a
staple the Halls attempt to install
in young people. Sponsoring
and running the invitational
seemed to be a great way to
contribute to their community,
make new relationships, and
show support to young people
throughout the region.
The Hall’s Sgt. York Southeastern
Christmas Invitational
is sanctioned by each of the
schools respective high school
athletic association – TSSAA,
AHSAA, and KHSAA. It is also
sanctioned through the National
federation of State High
