I had never heard of The Reign of Kindo nka Kindo. But one
email and two phone calls later and I was sitting at a sold-out show
presented by the Tybee Post Theater listening to them just jam on. I
hadn’t even met any of them, but my first impressions - Baby, grab the
bottle of wine and let’s have a date night, Norah Jonesy with an Easy
Like Sunday Morning Lionel Richie. However, let’s throw in some very
impressive guitar riffs and an island beat that didn’t shine in their live
show, but busts out in their new album, dropping April 13th, called
Happy However After. The band also has a wide range ability to cool
your road rage, and make you ask Alexa what she looks like. Kindo has
a sexy vibe. With that in mind, let’s meet the band…
Sitting in the ‘Green RV’ with Joey Joseph Secchiaroli, lead vocals
and guitar, was entertaining. It was the break between sets, and while
Little Tybee jammed out on stage, Kindo ran in and out of the RV doing
whatever band members do while killing time. Joey and I chatted.
All the guys grew up together in Buffalo, NY, raised by parents who
were music oriented and it was in the blood. To not become musically
inclined was an impossibility. Starting out originally in 2001 as This
Day and Age, the band originally consisted of Joey, Steven Padin on
drums and vocals, Michael Carroll playing guitar and percussion, Kelly
Sciandra on the piano and trumpet, and Jeff Martin on lead vocals. As

the times changed and the band moved into a more progressive jazzier
role, some members left for other opportunities, (Jeff Martin), and
others were added: Danny Pizarro now rocks the piano, Jeff Jarvis is
on bass, John Babb is on guitar, Darren Escar plays the saxophone and
Geraldo Castillo is percussion and vocals. That is a lot of band members
to keep track of, but it all works!
Everyone always wants to know how the band came up with
their name. It is a major event to create a winner and here is how
it happened: Everyone was gathered around the table at a Chinese
restaurant discussing this exact problem when Mike leapt to his feet
and announced the name would be “Kindo.” Mike’s announcement was
immediately accepted as he is the phonetic artist of the group. “The
Reign of” Kindo fell into place.
Described as “piano driven rock pop with progressive tendencies,”
the band continues to progress in that vein with their fourth album,
Happy However After. This effort was independently produced and that
is huge! Not only have all of their songs been written and recorded
by Kindo, but to produce too is a dedication to one’s art that requires
100%.
To listen to Kindo, they can be found on Apple, Spotify, Google
Store, and most importantly Patreon. That one is key as you have an
opportunity to access not only their music, but also see them livestream
discussing details of their music, listen to original demos and of course,
become a personal part of the team by making a donation. Getting off
the ground is hard work and Joey admits that you can’t do anything
without the support of family, friends and the FANS!
Kindo is worth a listen. You can locate their schedule on Facebook
and their website, and if you want to know more, follow their Twitter
and Instagram accounts for all of the latest updates.
