Caramel Apple Pie
Ingredients:
1 double pie crust
6 tbsp. unsalted butter
1/2 c. white sugar
1/2 c. light brown sugar
1/4 c. water
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
pinch of salt
5-6 apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
Instructions:
1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees.
2. Combine butter, both sugars, water, cinnamon, and salt in saucepan over
medium heat. Stir constantly until mixture comes to a boil. Remove from
heat and set aside.
3. Put bottom pie crust into pie pan. Pour apples into pie pan.
4. Roll out top crust to a 10 inch circle. Cut 8 one inch wide strips. Weave the
strips, one at a time, into a lattice pattern. Fold strips under the edge of the
bottom crust and crimp to seal.
5. Pour caramel mixture over the top of the pie, coating the lattice and
allowing any remaining mixture to drizzle through the crust.
6. Cover edges of crust with foil and bake at 425 degrees for 15 minutes
then reduce to 350 for 35-40minutes. Cool completely before slicing.
7. Enjoy.
