Cantor Beth Schlossberg has been named
as director of Jewish Life and Curriculum at
Hillel Academy in Tampa, our area’s only
accredited Jewish school. Schlossberg, a
graduate of the University of Michigan, most
recently served as co-director for the religious
school at Congregation Kol Ami in Tampa,
where she built a comprehensive and creative
elementary and middle school Hebrew and
Judaics curriculum.
Sarasota, Fort Myers and Naples, hosted
a celebration party at the store on Tyrone
Boulevard in St. Petersburg to celebrate
the chain’s 33 years in business.
Daniel Black has been selected as
the assistant conductor for The Florida
Orchestra after being chosen from the
more than 60 conductors who applied
for the position. He will lead the youth,
park and outreach concerts as well as the
final coffee and pops programs and will
assist Music Director Michael Francis and
guest conductors.
René Johnson, whose entrepreneurial
talents originally opened My Favorite
Things with “gifts, wine and all sorts of
fancies,” The Living Room Restaurant
and Lounge as well as the Dunedin
Smokehouse in downtown Dunedin,
has been at it again. Her newest venture,

restaurants, features residential space
above two retail boutiques, Mirabella
“fine fun fashions” and René’s own new
Our House, “a very fine house,” which
features exceptional gifts and home décor,
plus daily wine tastings. 9
