My Clearwater
It’s a dirty job, and this team is
up to the challenge. This is what
it takes to keep Clearwater’s
fleet on the road:
1,700 – total vehicles & equipment that get serviced
$42,000 – how much is spent on tires per month
$10 million – vehicle replacement costs for 2018/19
180 – average number of oil changes conducted each month
4– how many fire trucks can be in the shop at one time
74,000– square footage of the Fleet Shop under one roof
24– diameter in feet of seven giant fans that keep the
replacement l tools,l which h h is usual l for f fleet fl shops h across the
h
country.
“This isn’t just a job,” said Conzen, “this is a lifelong
career path. All of our technicians are Automotive Service
Excellence-certified, some are EVT-certified, and all have
their specialties,” said Conzen. The city’s fleet technicians are
all male and span all ages. “Our youngest was just hired this
year, in his 20s, and our most senior technician has 29 or
30 years of service with the city,” he said.
It is business as usual at Clearwater Fleet. The guys are
working just as hard as they do every day. “Overall, we’re
really appreciative,” said Conzen.
