PERMANENT COLLECTION OF THE FLORIDA HOLOCAUST MUSEUM, DONATED BY THE ARTIST AND HIS FAMILY
Pachner at the Florida
Holocaust Museum
A collection of illustrations and drawings
by renowned artist William Pachner that were
donated to the Florida Holocaust Museum by
his daughter and son, Anne and Charles, are

Pachner left Czechoslovakia in 1939 for Chicago,
where he became the art director at Esquire
magazine. He learned at the end of World War II in
1945 that his parents and brother had been killed
by the Nazis, at which point he left commercial
art and became a studio artist to communicate his
grief and reaction to man’s inhumanity to man.
The “Loss and Affirmation” exhibit is on display
at the Florida Holocaust Museum at 55 Fifth St. S.
in St. Petersburg, (727) 820-0100.

Tampa Bay Rays’ Founder
With the current interest in the Tampa
Bay Rays, we found this book from 2009,
Vince Naimoli – Business, Baseball and
Beyond to be a captivating view of the
man who started it all. It tells about the
early years of the team that formed in
1995 and first played in 1998. It is Vince’s
view of what was going on, but no one
was up closer and more involved than
he was. Whatever you may think of his
perspective, he did bring the Rays to St.
Petersburg and the Tampa Bay area, and
we owe him a debt of gratitude for that.
