Nick Dukas has received two silver
medals from the Global Music Awards
for outstanding achievement – one for
his Once and Forever Love album and the
other for “Mr. Moon (Take it Away)” song
and duo with Nick and Jennifer Day
Morrison. These are his eighth and ninth
silver medals from Global Music.
Geoffrey Simon has created a
retrospective of the life and career of
recently retired Dr. Judy Genshaft,
former president of the University of
South Florida, for the Suncoast Business
Forum television show that broadcasts
on WEDU-TV (PBS). Simon produced
and hosted the show from 1983-1990. The
program about Genshaft, who was an
exemplary university president during
her 19 years of service, can be viewed
online at wedu.org/sbf.
Helen Freund, a Le Cordon Bleutrained
chef, is the new food writer for the
Tampa Bay Times and will write restaurant
reviews and food-related articles. We
believe the Tampa Bay restaurants will
compare favorably with those in New
Orleans, where she was working as a
writer.
Jacqueline Eash, wine director at
Sea Salt in St. Petersburg, was among
area wine directors receiving Wine
Spectator’s Best of Award of Excellence
for their restaurants’ wine lists. Others
included Nicolette Alfano, wine director
at Alfano’s Restaurant in Clearwater;
Kaitlyn Duke, wine director at Bascom’s
Chop House in Clearwater; Dennis
Cardoso, wine director at Birch and
Vine Restaurant in St. Petersburg; Jim
Garris, wine director at the Columbia
Restaurant in Tampa; and Paul and
Luke Forlini, wine directors at Forlini’s
Restaurant in Clearwater Beach.
The awards recognize wine lists that
display excellent breath across multiple
winegrowing regions and/or significant
vertical depth of top producers, along with

Grant Martin has been named the new vice
president of development for The Florida
Aquarium by Roger Germann, aquarium
president and CEO. Martin will help broaden
the aquarium’s donor engagement and deepen
its connection with the community as the
aquarium experiences increased visibility in
its conservation efforts, business growth such
as coral research and restoration, sea turtle
rehabilitation and new exhibits like “Moon
Bay” and “Heart of the Sea.” In 2017, Martin
received the Lloyd Horton Life Time Award
from the Suncoast chapter of the Association of
Fundraising Professional for his career success
and contributions to the fundraising profession.

released his 10th
novel, Further
Adventures of
Hart and Soul.
