For those of you that have been on this Beachcomber Wild Ride, you know that we are kind of crazy here. We like to party, cuss and have contests
that are ridiculous. Well, you will either be appalled or reassured to know that nothing has changed this year and my epiphany for a scratch ‘n sniff
sticker contest will remain rooted in BC history as the most fun contest to date. Year Two was no different, other than the factoid that the stickers and
the magazines all arrived late and I was getting stressed out.
I had planned this shindig for Thanksgiving Day. Everyone was welcome and I enticed people with an open bar and Stouffer’s Lasagna fresh-out-ofthe
box to the oven. Knowing this could go either way, I was nervous. The magazines and the stickers all arrived on the Wednesday before, so at least
I could do it by myself if need be, but the magic of the holidays with great friends was with me and the first to show up was Minnesota John. Vodka
and Jameson began to flow. Betsey Jenkins was next and eggnog was involved. Jen Drazek showed up and proudly did a whole six magazines!! Gage
McKnight was front and center and I got him situated in the Project Manager position so I could go goof off in the kitchen with C.J. Markey, cooking
Red Lobster Cheese Biscuits, downing shots and behaving badly.
Jen left and we were still going strong, if somewhat slower. Saving the day like a gingersnap angel was Blair Whalen who brought Daniel Simmons
(who brought homemade banana pudding!!!) and Nick Dunham. They were followed by my neighbor, Joy Baker, and things really started to get out of
control. C.J. and I were giggling in the kitchen while Gage was riding roughshod on the people not taking this seriously. Well, after a couple bottles of
El Jimador, no one was serious about anything but those cheese biscuits! Ken Moser showed up and everything went to shit. Minnesota got fired for
double stickering and Ken got fired for not paying attention to anything but the story he was telling everyone. It was honestly the best time ever! We
got it done and everyone ran off into the night to complete their debauchery!
After the magazines were delivered, it was discovered that the Wind Rose didn’t have any stickers, so we ran across the street to Wet Willie’s who
was only half stickered! I was going to fire someone, but where to start??? Gage saved the day by going to every business on Tybrisa to make sure
we were sticker proper!
So, after all of that … I am very happy to announce the winner of the Second Annual Pickle Contest is Corrie Newton!!!! She found the Pickle Edition
and is the proud recipient of a $250 photo session with renowned photographer, Wen McNally!!! Congratulations Corrie!!!
A huge shout out to everyone that came over and helped the Beachcomber with this epically stupid event!!!! See y’all next year!!!
