Lori and Bill Goede

Lori and Bill Goede, who is Bank of America’s Tampa Bay
Market president, met at a fraternity/sorority social at
the University of Florida, when Bill was president of his
Lambda Chi Alpha chapter and Lori was social chair for
Alpha Omicron Pi. They have been married 31 years.
Bill began his career with NCNB (a predecessor to Bank
of America) in 1989 as a part-time teller at the Longboat Key
office, moving on to management training in Tampa later that
year. Since joining Bank of America, he has served in several
senior leadership roles for both consumer and business
banking in Florida; St. Louis, Missouri; and Dallas/Fort Worth
and Houston, Texas.
In addition to being Tampa Bay Market president, Bill
also is the business banking market executive for the Greater
Tampa Bay market, catering to clients with annual revenues in
the $6 million to $50 million range. Bill serves on the board of
trustees of the Straz Center for the Performing Arts, Homeless
Empowerment Program, Tampa Bay Chamber of Commerce,
University of Tampa and Starting Right, Now.
Lori is a certified Jazzercise instructor and the co-owner of
Westchase Jazzercise. She chairs the education committee of
Alpha Omicron Pi. She has volunteered at the international
level for the sorority for more than 20 years as a collegiate
chapter finance specialist, alumnae network specialist and
alumnae network director.
Bill’s college degree was in marketing and Lori’s was
in communication and journalism. They have two adult
sons who live in Tampa Bay, a daughter-in-law and new
granddaughter. Together, they co-chaired the Straz Center’s
Broadway Ball in 2015.
What do you like most about the Tampa Bay area?
Lori: The sunshine and the beaches
Bill: The weather, the people and the food choices
What could you talk about for hours?
Lori: My family
Bill: Sports
What is your favorite word?
Lori: Adventure
Bill: GoGators (one word if you put it together, right?)
What do you do on your day off?
Lori: Go for walks, kayak, ride bikes, run errands or look for
something new and interesting to do in our community
Bill: Golf, kayak and now we’ll be spending time with our
new granddaughter

What are you famous for?
Lori: My chocolate chip cookies (They are my Dad’s favorite!)
Bill: Deep-fried turkey at Thanksgiving
What is the best advice you have ever been given?
Lori: To always use tolerance and judgment restrained by love
Bill: “You should give banking a try”… from my grandmother
Why do you do what you do?
Lori: I do what I do because of the differences I can make in
the lives of other people.
I love to see their transformation and growth.
Bill: I love meeting, talking to and helping people.
What don’t people know about you?
Lori: I was a professional Hawaiian dancer when I was young.
Bill: I was a home brewer in the early ‘90s and along with
some college friends, launched our own craft beer (Lake
Highland Amber). We had great T-shirts.
What are your favorite words of wisdom?
Lori: Articulate your awesome.
Bill: Listen to understand, not just to respond.
What would you like to do that you have never done?
Lori: Skydive
Bill: Have just one hole-in-one
What do you wish you could do?
Lori: I wish I were able to speak multiple languages.
Bill: Go back in time and buy stock in Apple
What is your pet peeve?
Lori: Negative people
Bill: Meetings that start late and run late
What did you want to be when you were younger?
Lori: A marine biologist
Bill: An air traffic controller
What is your favorite dessert?
Lori: Coffee ice cream
Bill: Pineapple Upside-Down Cake
