Carol Mickett and Robert Stackhouse recently
had an “As the Gulf Turns” exhibit of their work at
Gallery 114 on the Ybor City campus of Hillsborough
Community College in Tampa. The exhibit’s focus
on the Gulf of Mexico demonstrated how what
happens in the Gulf influences what happens in the
rest of the world. The artists are concerned about
the use of fossil fuels and the deforestation that they
believe have contributed to a significant increase of
heat-trapping carbon dioxide in the world, which
can lead to an imbalance in the Earth’s ecosystems.
