Pico Rojo Rotisserie at 2475 McMullen
Booth Road (Enterprise and McMullen Booth
roads) in Clearwater, (727) 474-3826, is the
place to go for roasted chicken with a Latin
American flair. Their salads are delicious,
and you will love the sweet plantains and
the perfectly prepared asparagus.
At the Wildflower Café and Market,
1465 S. Fort Harrison Ave. in Clearwater,
(727) 447-4497, the vegetarian tomato
basil bisque is at the top of our list,
along with the deep dish quiche and the
chicken pecan tart with signature mango
chutney. The Market there is loaded with
grab-and-go items, so you don’t have to
order ahead. The bakery case is filled with
everything from cookies to fruit breads.
We consistently find items here that make
takeout a treat.
The Annex at 400 Beach Drive N.E. in
St. Petersburg, (727) 896-4400, is where we
go for pressed Cuban sandwiches, salads
and acai bowls. This cafe has great coffee
drinks and fruit and yogurt smoothies as
well. As part of the St. Pete Hospitality
Group, they can be counted on to serve
up quality products.
One of our most frequent sources is
Rumba Island Bar & Grill, 1800 Gulf to
Bay Blvd. in Clearwater, (727) 446-7027,
which has a full to-go menu. They have
worked out the kinks right from the
beginning to make ordering takeout easy
and safe. They deliver your food right to
your trunk. What could be safer than that?
The Stuffed Mushroom at 825 Main St.
in Safety Harbor, (727) 726-8686, has created
a special carryout menu specifically for the
crisis. This creative caterer makes meals
from Tuesday through Saturday that you
can heat or put into the freezer. You have to
order 24 hours in advance, but the selection
is wide and ranges from Shepherd’s Pie to
Hearty Southwest Quinoa with tri-colored
quinoa, cherry tomatoes, black beans, corn,
scallions and lime vinaigrette. Be sure to also
order some of their $1 decadent desserts.
Another of our favorites is Marguerite’s
Cafe and Catering at 405 Plaza Drive off
Douglas Avenue in Dunedin, (727) 743-
7040. Since they are accustomed to large
and small caterings, efficiently handling
takeout is a breeze for Marguerite and her
staff. They even offer weekly cleverly titled
specials in addition to the regular menu of
salads, sandwiches, entrées and desserts.
Olde Bay Café and Dunedin Fish
Market at 51 Main St. at the Dunedin
Marina, (727) 733-2542, which sits over the
