In the Kitchen with…. Ryan Sadowsky
The Breakfast Club
Man, I just love this guy! Great personality, great sense of humor, always
looking happy and content with life. He also busts a move in the kitchen. We
are talking The “World Famous” Breakfast Club, y’all! I got a chance to
have a telephone conference with Ryan, we both had cocktails in hand, and
we pretty much laughed the entire call. Let’s get this on and giggle.
The Breakfast Club was opened in 1975 across the street from its current
location by Grandma Helen and moved in 1976. In 1985, Helen passed the
restaurant to her son, Jodee Sadowsky. When Jodee’s son, Ryan, was 13,
he started at The BC washing dishes. At 15 he was doing line prep, as well
as washing dishes, working the grill, serving, bussing, running the register,
plumbing and electric too. Ryan admits he’s not that great at electric, but his
plumbing is good! But always happier cooking. Good information to know!
Ryan has lived on Tybee his entire existence. There was a six-month stint
in Colorado at a ski lodge, but we don’t talk about that! Although make sure
you ask him about it! Great story there!
Of course I had to ask Ryan The Questions of Life:
Passion: Loves running around – softball, big roller hockey player,
football, you name it!
Grow Up: Make the BC the community hub that it was back in the day.
Spirit Animal: An Owl. Quiet and still. Ready for action when necessary.
Super Power He Has: Being a Ginger, he makes his own Vitamin D so

he doesn’t need any space stars.
Super Power He Wishes He Had: Not to sleep! Getting up at 4:15 every
morning to feed this island has got to be tough!
Ryan’s go to dish is pasta. Anything with noodles and veggies and will prep
a white or red sauce depending on the mood! Total pajama pasta eater.
As far as his recipe for Pesto Egg Noodle Zucchini and Chicken, we
never really nailed down the exact details about. I think that was him being
mysterious and not wanting to give up secret ingredients.
Here is what I do know: Make sure you have a really good quality olive oil.
The BC offers their own Season All which is not an exact science, but a
must have in your life. Cook your egg noodles then throw in some pesto,
garlic and onion powder, garlic salt, cayenne, paprika, poultry seasoning,
cumin, a lot of regular table salt and pepper as well as some dry mustard.
Don’t forget the extra Lowry All Seasons either! Grill up your chicken, throw
in your zuch and just add spice until the voice in your head tells you to stop.
Make sure you are wearing your pajamas and drinking wine when you do
all of this. Not only will this add to the ambience, you will feel amazing!
The moral of this is go see Ryan at The Breakfast Club. Not only can you sit
at the counter and watch his every move, you can get a fantastic meal and
feel fat full for the rest of the day! Make sure you wait at the door though!
