Colorado Professional Rodeo Association (CPRA)
Beginning in 1975 with less than five rodeos, the
Colorado Professional Rodeo Association (CPRA)
has grown into an organization that stretches across
the state, sanctioning an average of twenty-five
rodeos a year while working hand in hand with its
neighboring associations to co-approve dozens more.
Originally created as the Colorado State Rodeo
Association, the intent remains the same: to bring
organized, high caliber rodeo to towns across the
state but with accessibility to the working cowboy.
The mom and dad who care for their families with a
more traditional day job, but still have the drive to
compete against others that share the same passion
for the sport of rodeo. “We are the working man’s
rodeo” says Don Scanga, CPRA President, adding,
“The CPRA to me is a family based, pro/amateur
association that strives to showcase local as well
as professional talents all across Colorado and
neighboring states.”
The Colorado Professional Rodeo Association is
a nonprofit association, supervised by a board of
directors made up of member cowboys and cowgirls.
Each board member donates their expertise and an
enormous amount of time each year. In addition to
