Growing up on a Kansas ranch, Jake learned the value of hard
work early on. His father and Coleman Proctor’s father roped
together while the boys were growing up. An everlasting
friendship was forged. They qualified for two NFRs together
before switching partners. Coleman has qualified again and
they will be encouraging each other through ten nights of
competition at the Thomas and Mack.
Both Jake and Tasha graduated from Northwestern Oklahoma
State University in Alva, they have two daughters Haven and
Haizlee. Long got started in rodeo through his parents, Crickett
Long (rancher) and Pam Weatherby (teacher), both of whom
competed at the amateur level. Jake’s favorite rodeo is San
Antonio, his favorite movie is “Tombstone”, his favorite sports
team is the University of Kansas basketball team and his rodeo
idol is Clay O’Brien Cooper.
