On a cold day the steam rising from the
springs resembles a sauna. Some days, the smell
of minerals in the air is more pungent, alerting
those nearby that the minerals are active.
If you forget to bring something, there is
an onsite gift shop in the admissions building
that offers sunblock, hats, towels, T-shirts,
souvenirs and sundry items. Currently there
is not a concession area at the location, but a
handful of sandwiches, snacks and beverages are
available for purchase in the gift shop.
Chairs and chaise loungers are available at the
facility (on a fi rst-come, fi rst-served basis) at no
cost. Showers, restrooms and lockers are
available onsite. Guests may bring their own
food and drinks, but no coolers or alcohol are
permitted on the premises.
A variety of spa services are also available.
Scuba diving is allowed in the deeper parts
of the springs – with a permit from the City of
North Port.
By defi nition, a mineral spring is a natural
body of water that contains dissolved minerals,
including salt, sulfur and gases.
