Hey again. Hope everyone is enjoying their new year and
getting ready for some warmer weather. I know I can’t wait
until all this changing from hot to cold is over. We’re almost
done though. Another month or two and it’ll be 90 degrees
and so crowded you can’t walk down the sidewalk.
So here’s the story I have for you guys this month. If you’re
going to use a fake name, make sure it’s not someone who is
registered as a known violent gang member. And if you don’t
want to get tased, don’t run when you’re told to put your
hands behind your back. This is actually a pretty old story but
one of the better ones we’ve had. So, some years ago this car
was stopped leaving the island. The driver, who we had
actually been looking for earlier that day to serve warrants on,
knew the police were looking for him. Naturally he gave a
very generic fake name and said he had a California driver’s
license. Well that name happened to belong to a member of
MS-13 in California with several alerts for violent crimes. Also
this name had no driver’s license associated with it. So our
officers moved in to put this guy in handcuffs. As they did this
he decided he was going to give running a try. While he was
running he was steadily reaching for the front of his pants. So
our guys did what they’re taught to and tased him. He was
put in handcuffs immediately and given a ride to the hospital
to get the road rash he received from the pavement treated.
Pretty soon after this they found out who this guy really was
and why he was running.
As summer comes up, I just want you guys to remember to
find your inner patience as you’re dealing with all the people
in town visiting. Also, I want to make sure everyone knows
ahead of time that we will be strictly enforcing our fireworks
laws this year. This means they can’t be shot off on the
beach, in the parks, or any city right of way. So make sure to
keep them in the driveway. Also we have an open house
coming up in March that I hope all of you will be able to
attend. Enjoy your St. Patrick’s Day and, as always, if you
need help feel free to call us.
